I am writing to ask for your support for S3916/ A6519. This legislation would provide a twenty year half pay retirement for State Park Police Officers.
The State Park Police are New York State's second largest Police agency. They have statewide jurisdiction with primary responsibility for our State parks, campgrounds and historic sites. Like all Police Officers, they apprehend criminals, handle accidents, provide crowd and traffic control and ensure the safety of the public when they use our State facilities.
Most municipal police officers in New York have twenty-year retirement programs. State Park Police Officers have the same training, face the same dangers and perform the same functions as municipal police. It is only fair that they receive the same retirement benefits.
I look forward to hearing from you in regards to this legislation.
